Vegan leather vs plant-based leather? What is the difference?
We use plant-based leathers, mainly cactus and apple leather. We want to make a clear distinction between “plant-based” leather and "vegan" leather. Plant-based leather is bio based, 100% vegan, cruelty-free and PVC-free. A lot of brands use “vegan” leather but it is often made of PVC / PU which contains mainly plastic and toxic ingredients. Plant based leathers include apple, cactus, grape and pineapple leathers, they have primarily bio based content, have a low carbon footprint and a low environmental impact.
Plantleather or plant-based "leather" is a sustainable leather alternative made from bio based or plant-based materials. Plantleathers are materials made from plants and fruits such as cactus, apples, pineapples, grapes, mangoes and mushrooms. The purpose of plantleathers is to reduce the impact of the leather industry on both humans and the environment.
